Success
in science and engineering is not easy for anyone, regardless
of gender, but the reality is that things are harder for
women. It may mean more work, but there are some things
that can be done to help ensure success in the pursuit
of a science or engineering career.
- Work
hard in school and aim for the best grades possible.
- Seek
out female role models and mentors and participate in
events sponsored by organizations such as Association
of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN).
- Join
professional engineering organizations and societies.
Financial
and political empowerment of organizations such as APWEN
and NSE can provide resources for women looking to enter
science and engineering fields.
