Mona M. El-Kady, Ph.D.

Dr. El-Kady is a research professor and the President of the National Water Research Center, Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation in Egypt. She is the Director for the Water Resources Strategic Program and the National Water Availability Management Project.

She received a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 1966, and an M.S. in Irrigation & Drainage in 1972 from Ain Shams University, Egypt. She also has a hydrology diploma from Paduva Institute in Italy. She received her Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Ain Shams University, Egypt, in 1979. She went to Colorado State University during 1987 for postdoctoral studies.

Prof. El-Kady was awarded a Degree of Honor (1979) by the Egyptian President Anwar El-Sadat for being the first woman engineer to obtain a Ph.D. in Irrigation and Hydraulic Science from an Egyptian university. Also, she was awarded first class decoration in Engineering Science (Water Management, 1984) and received a decoration for leadership in the field of engineering by the Egyptian Engineering Syndicate in 1993.

Dr. El-Kady is a member of more than 10 International organizations such as ASCE, ICID, ASPRS, IWRA, WWC, IWMI, Egyptian Syndicate, and the Board of Governors of IMII (one of the World Bank organization). She has written more than hundred research and technical papers in conferences and scientific forums.
