Jill T. Shapiro Sideman, Ph.D.

Dr. Sideman holds the degrees of Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy in Physical and Inorganic Chemistry, received from Byrn Mawr University in 1963 and 1965 respectively. She conducted over seven years of post-doctoral research in high-energy physics and molecular biology in the following positions: as a fellow of the National Academy of Sciences/National Research Council at the National Bureau of Standards; as a fellow of the National Institutes of Health at the National Institute for Arthritis and Metabolic Diseases; as a Chargee du Recherche at the Institut Pasteur in Paris; and as a researcher at the University of Washington Medical School. In 1974, Dr. Sideman co-founded the environmental consulting firm of Shapiro and Associates, based in Seattle, Washington. Under her direction, the firm grew to 25 employees and was a standard setter in the field of environmental impact analysis, wetlands and coastal zone management, and energy conservation. In 1982, Dr. Sideman expanded the firm to a branch in San Francisco, California. In 1984, Dr. Sideman sold the Seattle branch of Shapiro and Associates to its Seattle staff and converted the San Francisco branch to TRS Consultants, which conducted environmental consulting throughout Northern California until 1986.

In 1986, Dr. Sideman joined the international environmental engineering firm of CH2M HILL as the San Francisco Bay Area Manager of Environmental Planning. Within 6 months she became the Hazardous and Solid Waste Division Manager for the Bay Area. In 1989 she became the Assistant Director of Solid Waste for the entire firm. In this role, she was the project manager for the site investigation, permitting, and design of the Keller Canyon Landfill, the first major landfill permitted in Northern California in over 10 years.

Today Dr. Sideman is a Director and Vice President of CH2M HILL and is the Client Service Manager for the company's largest private sector client, Chevron Corporation, for which CH2M HILL conducts over $30 million annually in strategic management consulting and site remediation. CH2M HILL is an employee-owned company with $1.3 billion annual revenues and over 8,000 employees in 130 offices around the world.
