Dr. Sachiko Okuda

Sachiko Okuda, Ph.D. graduated from the Physical Chemistry Department of Ochanomizu Women’s University (Japan) in 1964, and after work experience as a research and teaching assistant, received her MS degree in physical chemistry from U.C. San Diego (USA) in 1970. She received her PhD degree from University of Southampton (UK) in 1973 for research on angular distribution of photodissociation products and infrared emission from molecular reactions. Currently as Senior Managing Director of FCG Research Institute Inc. in Japan which occupies a unique place as both an independent research organization and a member of Japan’s largest media group (Fujisankei Communications Group), she is directing a research division with laboratories for living sciences including Beauty Science laboratory, Food and Cooking Science laboratory, and Home Appliances laboratory, in constant operation testing a variety of consumer goods for quality, safety, durability and conformity to both legal and technical requirements. Presently she is a Director (Interim Board Member) of INWES (International Network of Women Engineers and Scientists), President of INWES Japan, and Vice President of Japanese Academy of Facial Studies.
